What is Reiki ? pronounced Ray - Key.
Reiki can do no harm only good. Reiki is a non invasive healing method that has been around for thousands of years. How does it work? It works with the universal energy that is around us and helps clear unwanted energy from you. Let me talk you through a session - once we have had a chat and answered any questions you will lay fully clothed on your back, ( just shoes off please) with a bolster under your knees and a blanket over you to keep you comfortable and warm. Music in the background and you can just be and relax. I will place my hands above your eyes , then ears and then place them gently on the top of your head, followed by shoulders. Then I work above the body over the main chakra areas, so the throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral chakra and root chakra, and I will also do what we call a body scan and see where else the reiki may wish to go. I will then place my hands on your knees ( one at a time) then same goes for feet, if having a full session I can also reiki your back this is normally hands on, and you can either lay on your front or sit up on the couch it is whatever feels best for you. What will I feel? everyone is different and each session may also feel different as we are working with energy so everything changes. You may feel hot or cold sensation where I am working, you may feel tingling sensations in the hands arms and feet. Sometimes your body may have a slight jolt this is normal and fine as energy is clearing. Some people feel nothing but they generally feel relaxed afterwards. Some have visions or see colours or feel like they are moving. There is no right or wrong its all energy and its all good. If you have ever been curious about Reiki - then why not give it a go. I also teach reiki the Usui method and love what comes out and see others on their journeys. Please ask me any questions about having a session or learning Reiki. I hope this has answered some of your questions about what may happen during a session. Remember it is good to try new things and it is a lovely way to relax the body and mind in a gentle non invasive way. Take care Trudi

Wow day 29 already and it has been a great journey which I have enjoyed , which to me is part of it to find things that we enjoy and if they are good for our wellness, mind and body as well then that is a bonus.
Qi gong has bought my body movement and my mind peace, to me it is very much a moving meditation, slightly faster than Ti chi but not as hard ( depending on level) as yoga, I love yoga as well but have been out of practice and when i came across Qi gong last year it seemed to suit me. Find what is right for you. I have done two Qi gong online sessions one with an amazing Chap called Warren Swartz from www.acqciaqigong.co.uk who is based in Devon and runs great things, but also online so go check out what he offers. He is also on you tube. The other person I follow who I did the 30 day challenge with via Udemy is Lee Holden who is I believe based in America. either search him on you tube or look Qi gong up on Udemy and challenges. I do have the link but it is crazy long. So apart from the Qi gong 30 day challenge I also decided to try cold showers and I have got up to 1 minute sometimes just under sometimes over, depends on the day, but it is something I have embraced and felt the benefits of, so if this appeals have a look at Wim Hoff things as he talks about cold shower among a host of breathing techniques and much more. Or you could just set yourself a target and try cold shower at the end of your normal shower and see how you go, the main thing is to focus on your breath. Lastly I wanted to do barefoot walk first thing in the morning, as it is something I do pretty much daily anyway and love how it can make a difference to your day as you can feel so grounded and connected before cracking on with your day, time outside is always great for body and mind, so maybe have a few minutes barefoot every day, and if feeling stressed at the end of your day, kick the shoes and socks off and go barefoot outside. So I hope by reading these blog posts that you have found some spark that has inspired you to try something new, to make sometime for you or given you something to ponder. Thanks for being here Enjoy the journey Now as I near my last day, knowing I will continue with what I have done over the last 29 days, I will keep adding things and growing in whatever direction I can. Have a great day Trudi x Hi There, How has your week and weekend been so far? time sure flies when its a long weekend but one can loose track of what day it is...
I enjoyed a minute of cold water in the shower this morning- very embracing but stuck with it, had a wonderful walk into the village for our annual village carnival enjoyed by so many and so lovely to see. I am shortly going out to enjoy some barefoot time and listen to the birds singing. Qi gong will happen before bed ;-) Sometimes we slip up on a habit or feel we need a little break and I always feel that as long as we are making time for ourselves and recognise this and that we feel OK that sometimes a change is as good as a rest as the saying goes its OK to change what you do for a bit, ( as long as its in your best interest) trying to do Qi gong when the cats decided to have a chase didn't help- but I will complete every lesson and will keep doing until learnt some by heart as I have loved every lesson and can see and feel the benefits. Have a wonderful evening and enjoy your day tomorrow. Hello everyone,
How are you, can you believe we are on day 20 out of 30, the time sure has flown. Yesterday I had a rest day and knew although it was a great day I would of benefited from my Qi gong and was planning to do at some point but it was a lesson to me that if I don't stick to the morning routine things don't happen - but likewise we all need a break at times and although all of what I have chosen is beneficial to me I did not get upset with myself for not doing it. Today however I got up and showed up, enjoyed a barefoot walk in the rainy grass and took lung fulls of beautiful fresh air and the smell of rain. I came in and did yesterdays Qi gong session and aim to do today's one this evening before bed. I managed 30 seconds in the shower, its weird to say but I am convinced the cold water is getting colder haha, my guess is the shower is not as hot as before and therefore the cold comes through colder quicker? anyway it was very bracing but still happy with what I achieved. Taking each day as it comes is always a good thing in my eyes. Wishing you all an awesome rest of the day and evening Take care Trudi I have so enjoyed walking barefoot around the garden and taking 5 minutes or more to enjoy the sunshine rising and listening to bird song, so grateful for this time of the day to start my day in a way of calm. Normal showers plus cold showers yesterday was just under 40 seconds for some reason the water felt so cold, but guessing the sun had warmed me. Today shorter barefoot walk and less time outside but managed a full minute under the cold water today.
Qi gong sessions have been amazing and I so enjoy these and once again truly amazed by how something relatively short can change how your body feels and responds. Have a wonderful evening and a great start to a fresh week ahead. Well some days are easy to jump out of bed and crack on, others days not so much. Anyway I have managed to do all that I have set my self up to do just not necessarily in the order I had planned but still a tick non the less.
1 minute in cold shower managed yesterday and day before today it was around the 30-40 seconds as I lost count haha.( have been using a timer) Yesterday I did two Qi gong sessions so that I am now all caught up from the one I missed. I really find these small steps amazing and can feel the difference in my body after just 7 minutes - how cool is that. Barefoot walking never ceases to amaze me either, its so simple and yet so restorative and effective- get those shoes and socks off and give it a go, take a cuppa with you if you wish. I could of stayed out much longer this morning, but I had a fair bit to get ticked off before I headed out for some volunteering we do at a wonderful local farm, have to say the Qi-gong certainly helps the muscles wake up and good job as I was painting once again this week.. So my parting words after the last three days are: Do your best and don't beat yourself up if you don't achieve what you had set out to do, it will happen when its meant to. Enjoy the experiences that we go through and be grateful for what we have. Wishing you an awesome rest of the day and evening Take care Trudi Yesterday I enjoyed all aspects of my 30 day challenge once again and so glad I have incorporated this in to my morning routine.
Today I loved walking on the back lawn bare feet and feeling the rain water on them, and listening to the birds sing the leaves glistening from the fresh rain, stopping to pauses and smell the air, watching the sun peeking through. Even managed to finish the weeding while the soil was wet and pulled the weeds from the lawn. ( have left all our daisies to do what they wish) Qi gong as ever was fantastic and it really does amaze me how my body feels just after the short time I have been doing this and for less than 10 minutes a day - just goes to show how when we are fully connected with our body and mind what inner strength we have and how our bodies thank us. I really would say if you have not tried it look it up and give it a go. Lastly my cold water 1 minute shower - my waterfall time as I now see it as and it feels amazing waking up all the body in a different way to the other things, have you tried it yet? As always have a wonderful rest of your day. Trudi Wow I can not believe we have got this far, yesterday I missed my Qi gong session for various reasons and I really missed it, they may only be around 7 minutes but it is amazing what they can do for you to set you up for the day. I did the barefoot walk around the garden though.
Today I made a point of making sure I got back on track 100% as Its only me to answer to, but it is for my well being as I have said it makes a great start, I wondered around the garden this morning and felt the dew in the shady spots and the sunny spots were warm under foot, it was so nice to feel the changes in temperature and go with the flow, seeing the daisy's still asleep in the lawn, the clover and listening to the bird song. I sat in the sun and just enjoyed being present. Then did my grounding exercise before heading in for the 1 minute shower, which seems to be the daily norm now, today I set a timer to make sure I was not miss counting lol- and I imagined I was under a cascading waterfall, time flew past and I love how it can make you feel. I hope you are all keeping well and enjoying the small things that we can do to enhance our well being. This evening I have once again enjoyed the 30 minute walk I have from home, watching baby bunny, deer and stroking one of the horses I have been lucky enough to do Reiki on. The clouds have been amazing this evening. Bye for now Trudi PS I have been barefoot whilst weeding and pottering around in the garden nearly all day and I love the freedom it can bring you. Hi, How are you?
Well yesterday was day 8 and wow I enjoyed a wonderful leisurely barefoot walk around the garden in the mist and dew plus overnight rain fall and it felt amazing, walking gently and listening to the bird songs and everyone waking up around me. I loved the Qi gong session, it was just what I needed. Then I managed just over 30 seconds of cold water shower. Day nine today 20-05-22 and wow Qi gong was all about opening the lungs for deeper breaths through stretch work in a wonderfully gentle manor - I do so love this form of exercise it really helps ease you in to your day. Today's shower was a fab 1 minute of cold water and felt invigorating - somehow the longer you bare it the more intense and welcoming it becomes and I remind myself of the feeling of gliding through fresh water. Its cleansing and awakening all mixed and I love it. Have you tried a cold shower as yet? I will be sharing the benefits of all these things as we go along as I find interesting and relevant articles to share with you. Wishing you all an amazing rest of the day and evening. On my 7th day I am delighted to say I managed a full 60 seconds of cold water shower and loved it- what a great way to finish my first week.
The Qi gong today was renewal of fresh energy and was a beautiful session- these mini sessions set me up for the day and I love the way Qi gong works bringing a moving meditation to the whole body. Keeping it short this morning as more exams today ( not for me) so I will head off now and maybe add some more later. Wishing you a great day Trudi |
